Goldman Sachs internships 2027: the summer analyst program and what is still open

Forty Americas summer analyst roles for 2027 were still open in mid October 2026, including engineering. Core investment banking was not one of them.

Goldman Sachs hires undergraduate interns through its Summer Analyst Program, a nine to ten week internship usually done in the third or penultimate year of study. You apply to a specific division and location on its campus job board. As of October 19, 2026, 40 Americas summer analyst roles for 2027 were still open, including engineering, risk, operations, and quant strats, but not core investment banking.

If you have heard that Goldman recruiting is “over” by the fall, that is true for some divisions and not for others. Below is what was actually open, checked on Goldman Sachs's students site and campus job board on October 19, 2026.

How the Summer Analyst Program works

Goldman Sachs describes the Summer Analyst Program as a nine to ten week internship for undergraduates that fully immerses you in day to day work. You attend an orientation on the firm's culture and responsibilities, receive training, and take on real work alongside other interns and full time staff.

The eligibility line is short: you must be pursuing a college or university degree, and the role is usually undertaken in the third or penultimate year of study. Full time hiring for graduates runs separately through the New Analyst Program, listed on the same page as the internships.

What was still open for 2027

The campus job board listed 40 Americas summer analyst roles on October 19, 2026. Grouped by area:

AreaExamples of open 2027 listings
EngineeringNew York, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Bellevue
Quantitative StratsThe Core, FICC and Equities, Investment Banking, and Asset and Wealth Management strats
Finance and control functionsControllers, Corporate Treasury, Tax, Risk, Compliance, Operations
Internal AuditBusiness Audit and Technology Audit in New York, Dallas, Salt Lake City
Asset and Wealth ManagementQuantitative Investing, Financial Planning, User Experience Design
Executive Office and otherSustainable Finance, Media Relations, Global Marketing, Corporate Engagement, Banking Analytics and Solutions, Corporate and Workplace Solutions

Core investment banking and sales and trading generalist roles were not on the list. That matches how finance recruits: the most competitive front office seats fill far earlier, often a year or more ahead. The industry by industry calendar is in when to apply for summer internships, and the JPMorganChase picture, which looked similar, is in the JPMorgan internship guide.

“Goldman recruiting is over” is only true for some seats. Forty summer analyst roles were still open in the middle of October.

Programs for first and second years

Goldman Sachs runs two Americas programs for students too early for the summer analyst role:

  • Possibilities Series: for first year undergraduates at US colleges, with networking and workshops introducing financial services. The latest cycle was for students graduating between December 2028 and May 2029, ran in spring 2026, and is now closed.
  • Emerging Leaders Series:prepares second year undergraduate and master's students for future internships, with business specific training, interview preparation, and time with senior leaders. Tracks are based in New York, Dallas (engineering), and Salt Lake City. The current cycle, for students graduating between December 2028 and June 2029, runs from fall 2026 to spring 2027 and is closed to new applications.

Both are worth putting in your calendar for next year. More programs like them, at other employers, are in can you get an internship as a first year student.

Choosing a division

Because you apply to a division and location, the choice matters. A few practical points:

  • Apply where your evidence fits. Engineering and strats roles want code and math. Controllers, tax, and audit want accounting and attention to detail. Operations and risk want analytical problem solving.
  • Consider offices beyond New York. Dallas and Salt Lake City host many of the open roles and are part of the same firm and the same analyst pipeline.
  • Read each listing. Each role has its own description and requirements. Do not assume one listing's requirements apply to another.

How to apply well

  • Tailor per division. An engineering application and a controllers application should not use the same resume summary. The process is in how to tailor your resume to a job description.
  • Quantify. Finance recruiters read numbers first. Twelve before and after rewrites show how to add them when nobody gave you a metric.
  • Write the short answers carefully. If a listing asks why this division or why the firm, be specific. The structure in the internship cover letter guide works for short answers too.
  • Apply now. Roles that are open in October can close as they fill.
